What kind of thermometer do you use in a lab?

A lab thermometer is glass and is filled with colored alcohol. They used to be filled with mercury, but any thermometer will do. Try an IR thermometer.

There are two kinds of thermometers that are used in a lab: an alcohol thermometer, and a mercury thermometer. Alcohol thermometers are made of ethyl alcohol. A mercury thermometer is made of the metal mercury. You can not use a person thermometer, because people's perceptions of temperature can be inaccurate.
