Any kind of rug is fine. If depends on what you like, wool is fine, acrylic, nylon all is fine. Just make sure you have a really good pad underneath so the rug doesn't slide and you don't scratch the wood floor.

You should use a rug that compliments the wooden floors. You should also consider adding rubber things on the bottom of it to prevent the rug from moving from place too much and sliding all over the floors. I suggest a darker color so it stands out well against the hardwood floors.

On a wood floor, you will want a rug that has a good backing so that it will not slide on the floor. As far as color, it depends on the color of the hardwood and the color of your furniture.
