Ringworm is a fungus. A prescription fungicide is required to treat it. There are no over=the-counter ointments or creams that will get rid of ringworm. The fungus will continue to spread until you get proper treatment.

Since ringworm is a fungal infection, it needs to be treated with antifungal creams. The most common ingredients to look for on the label are miconazole, tolnaftate, or clotrimazole. Some brands you might consider include Micatin, Monistat, Mycelex, and Tinactin.

One of two can be purchased, with or without a prescription: any of the azoles: (Miconazole), purchased without a prescription. allymines:available in cream or pills, no rx needed. You can also use sea salt as a home remedy, since ringworm is a fungus, not a worm.
