You need to use a low VOC paint which is low in odor and safe for kids to breathe. Most of these will be latex based, which is good since you want to shy away from oil based paints.

I would recommend Ecological and non-allergic paint. You should avoid anything with a strong smell, and full of toxins, as the smell lingers and might bring on allergies.

When preparing the nursery for your newborn baby, you want the room to be a safe, warm, loving place. But paint can be give off harmful fumes even after it dries, it can harbor bacteria and not clean up very well. Neither you nor I want that for your baby's room!
