Before painting a dining room table, it is important to prepare it very well using sanding and remove all dust after the fact. If you are painting using a compressed air sprayer make sure to dilute the paint.

First I would sand it down and get rid of the rough edges. Next prime the table with the same color you are going to paint the table. Use oil base primer and paints. Next paint the table, I would paint 2 times. And last I would put 2 coats of poly on the paint. This will set the paint.

Painted effects can be beautiful and effective. Be sure to choose a level of paint quality that will be washable when done and use a quality primer. If the table has been finished before it may need washing.
