Xenia is a Latin name that means "hospitable" or "welcoming". Other then the meaning behind the name it has to translation into English. It originated from the Greek word Xeno, which means "guest" or "stranger".

"Xenia" means "strangeness", "foreigness". It is the abstract noun for the adjective "xenos" which means "stranger" (in the sense of unknown, unusual) and "foreign" (coming from a different country). Related to Greek culture it might be interpreted as the sense of "not belonging" completely to a culture as immigrant.
