I drive a Voyager.

Because the engine light is on it is not a failure in power so the battery is operational. The dashboard fuses or wiring could be damaged.

Typically when this happens, a fuse, relay or sensor is having an issue. This may indicate a real problem though, and the only way to truly diagnose the problem is to take the vehicle to a qualified mechanic.
