That means there is a bearing worn out and letting it pop out of 5th gear. you should get it repaired as soon as you can. Because letting it go on longer will start causing massive damage to the gears and if this happens the repair cost will be three times as much as getting it fixed now.

Sounds like it could be your 5th gear synchronizers. There are synchronizers for each gear, if the issue is only in 5th gear, you may have worn your 5th synchronizers.

Typically if a manual transmission car won't stay in gear it is because the shift fork is bent in the transmission. This is caused by too many fast shifts or not depressing the clutch enough before yanking on the shift lever. It will require the fork to be replaced or the transmission to be rebuilt/replaced.

Your transmission may be going bad or the computer system on your car. It could be that your not staying in at a high enough rpm to have it stay in 5th or you have your O/D (overdrive) turned off. The most common fix is to turn your O/D back on.

Your clutch or transmission is starting to fail if this is the case. The teeth may be so worn that the engine is jumping out of gear under stress and speed. When doing so, it only has the option to drop to 4th gear since it has nowhere else to go.
