Traditional Judo is an old form of martial arts. TherJudo includes several throws and chokes, but there are no other styles of judo.

Traditional Judo is a martial art in which the winner causes an opponent to submit or by takedown. Judo has spawned other martial arts including Sambo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Its a combat sport in which you utilize a throw to take your opponet down and then perform a submission lock to win. Other Types are Sambo or Jiu Jitsu

Traditional Judo spawned from a synthesis of various styles of Japanese Jiu Jitsu. Jigoru Kano designed it, and proved it's worth when his style defeated all comers at a Jiu Jitsu competition. But the sporting aspect gradually took over. From a self defence system, involving all kinds of strikes, neck cranks etc.
