They have different medicines that they can prescribe to you to help suppress the outbreaks. They will also recommend that you do not engage in sexual activity when you have an outbreak. The herpes virus can spread to different areas of your body so they will help you to prevent that.

Herpes is caused by a virus and can be treated but not cured. There are many anti-virals your doctor can prescribe when you have a flare-up. See a doctor.

There are medications a doctor can give you. Genital herpes are incurable but most of the time they can be controlled. They should go into remission with treatment and sometimes that lasts a long time. Genital herpes is easily spread by sexual contact so even if you think the herpes is under control, use extra protection to stop the spread.

They say that there is really no cure for herpes. There is only the treatment which reduce the flares and frequency of symptoms. Zovirax, Famvir, and Valtrex are the most common medications prescribed to control symptoms. No medication has been made to kill the virus so it remains in the person's body and shows the symptoms occasionally.
