Depending on whether your dog has Acute or Chronic Bronchitis, treatment will generally include antibiotics for infection, bronchodilators to open the airways, and/or corticosteroids to decrease swelling.

Reduced exercise and lots of fluid and rest. Your vet should have given you something for the dog to help keep his air passages open. Cold air can increase the symptoms of bronchitis so try to keep him warm and out of the weather.

Treating dogs with bronchitis starts by removing anything that might irritate the dogs lungs such as, dust, allergens, and cigarette smoke. There isn't much medicine that can be given to help a dog with bronchitis and other respiratory problems. Often they will use mild tranquilizers and cough suppressants to try and relieve the irritation in the dogs lungs.

Each treatment is highly individualized. If it's chornic, it's likely that the dog will never be cured - rather, steps will be taken to lessen the severity of the symptoms.

For early bronchitis in dog, chest X-ray is to be taken first for diagnosis followed by a bronchoscopic exam. by which a sample of mucus from way down in the lungs can be obtained. Early bronchitis in dogs is usually treated with antibiotics (symptomatically) to take care of any infection, and then something for allergies and inflammation in the lungs.
