If the ham is cooked it should have a shelf life of thirty-nine days because of the bacterial treatment it receives. An uncooked ham will only have the shelf life of three to four weeks at the most. The three to four weeks should also include processing and time in the store.

The shelf life of ham varies wildly with how it was prepared. Some preserved hams, such as a hard pepperoni or salami, can keep for months. Freshly slaughtered ham will go bad very quickly without refrigeration. You simply have to look at each ham individually.
