I would get a large crate but if you are trying to crate train I would make sure that you only have enough room for him to lay down so that he/she isn't able to use the bathroom and then lay on the other side of the crate.

Congratulations on your new addition! The right crate size for any dog is big enough for them to stand up and turn around in, but not big enough for them to be able to eliminate on one side and sleep on the other.

There should be enough room in your dogs crate for them to stand up and turn in a complete circle without any trouble. To eliminate buying multiple crates as the dog grows, buy your first one in a size that will appropriate for your dog when they are fully grown.

A crate should room enough for the dog to stand and turn around in. If the crate is larger, place a box in one side, remove as dog grows.

Never get a crate that is as small as the puppy! Get a crate that a full grown Boxer can be comfortable in and can turn around in and spread out comfortable while lying down. If you do get a small crate for the puppy, be prepared to buy one or more crates as the puppy grows.
