What is the recovery like when you have a hystorectomy?

I will probably be having a hystorectomy in a few months.

To some degree it will depend on how your surgery is done. Recovery takes longer if you have a full abdominal incision, as opposed to laproscopic (vaginal assist). Expect to start out pretty sore and groggy, with improvements on a daily basis for the first week. Then within two to six weeks, you'll gradually start to feel more like yourself.

The recovery time is long and sometimes boring. It's about 3 months in bed and off your feet. Three months of a particular diet and just not doing anything. It can be more hell to recover than it is to go through the operation.

Depending of if the hystorectomy was the large cut or three small cuts will make a difference in recover. Expect some pain and some bloody discharge for a couple days.

Recovery depends on which type of hysterectomy you are having. A vaginal hysterectomy requires little recovery time. However, an incisional hysterectomy will require at least six weeks of recovery. During this time, you should wear an abdominal binder and avoid heavy lifting. If ovaries have been taken, then hormone replacement therapy is necessary.
