A typical recovery time for this time of procedure can vary greatly. It can range from 6 weeks all the way up to a year. The progress of physical therapy can all lead to recovery time.
Speaking from experience, at 6 weeks I was still in bed. At 4 months I was still on crutches. At 6 months I could run 1/4 mile. At 1 year I could run 4 miles. 20 years later, I am still feeling it at times.

My 79 year old dad broke his hip(just below ball) surgery, home in 9 days. Walked with walker now with crutches(3 weeks) has refused any pain medication. Mental toughness has driven him all his life and my bet is he will be climbing ladfders again within a year. add a comment
It takes a couple of time to recover from a broken hip. After the surgical operation has been done, the patient must undergo a series of rehabilitation to put back the operated bone into it's normal condition.
Unfortunately you can run into a lot of complications when healing a broken hip. It can take anywhere from 6 weeks to 1 year. Be in for the long haul because a hip is so easily re-injured.
I had a complete hip replacement done 4/4/12 & still have pain in hip & femur bone on leg, I know it takes time to heal & am looking forward to spending it with my Gran'Children. It takes time to get tissue around thye bone to help it heal.
