Gene Simmons was born Chaim Witz on August 25, 1949. He was born in Haifa, Israel. He changed his name to Eugene Klien (mother's maiden name). Then to Gene Simmons.

He was born in Israel as Chaim Witz. He moved to America and changed his name to Gene Klein. He then changed it to Gene Simmons for the band.

Gene Simmons's real name is Chaim Witz. He was born in Haifa, Isreal in 1949. His mother Florence Klein and his brother Larry Klien migrated to the United States and lived in New York City when he was eight years old. His father did not. Soon after Chaim Witz changed his name to Eugene Klein.
