Tell him that his behavior is bad. If he's young give him timeouts or take away his T. V. if he's old ground him.

It is important to emphasize to your child over and over the importance of respecting authorities in life. You may need to take away some of your child's privileges for disrespect.

Never let him get away with it. Punish him every time. Put him in time outs and take away deserts and pop. Use spankings as a last resort. Never use anything but your hand to spank. In Canada it is actually illegal to spank a child with anything but the palm of your hand.

State that the disrespect is not to be tolerated. When the child continues the behavior, discipline the disrespect as you would other disobedience. In toddlers, it can be a swift slap on the butt. In older preschool children, this includes standing in the corner. For older children, progressively take away privileges.

I think the biggest thing you need to do is reward him when he is respectful. When he is disrespectful remind him that being respectful is a better way to get what he wants. If he is respectful you can take him out to eat to reward him or even give him some candy or something else he enjoys.
