I am horrible at decimals.

The 5 is in the tenths place in this decimal. With decimals it is pretty simple the way it works, the first number after the decimal (in this instance 5) is tenths, then next (7) is hundredths, and so on.

The 5 in this number is in the TENTHS place. From the decimal point and going right, the places are tenths, hundredths, thousandths, ten-thousandths, hundred-thousandths, and so on. Notice that for places less than one, we add the -th to the name.
