Our Brooke is most likely a doxi-chihuahua though my vet thinks she is part jack russell as well. She loves to chase, hunt, burrow, snuggle and play. She walks great on leash. She is difficult with strangers and has to be watched carefully or she will bite.
Acts like an irritating two year old toddler drama queen, wants everything, potty trained but may have accidents, must have toys and be held. demands to sleep in a comfy bed, snores and scoffs. likes car rides. always hungry but a picky eater with wicked ADHD. We love her.
I have a my chiweenie for the past 9 yr are so and he been the best dog ever! He is great with my 14 mouth old nephew. He is very hyper and full of energy and he will love to cuddle. This mix is great with anybody W/ kids.
This is a very smart mix, but one that needs a great deal of exercise and interaction. Chi's are excellent apartment dogs, but doxi's need interests, and don't always do well with children. You need to keep the upper hand, but this is a smart dog that takes training well.
They are calm, laid back, and love to be the center of attention. They can also be stubborn and sometimes energetic. They are very intelligent and sweet dogs. They are stout and have floppy ears. They need lots of exercise and attention. This could be the perfect pet for you.
I have a Chihuahua-Dachshund mix. She is very energetic, loves to burrow, jumps on everything. She is great with my roommates 3-year-old. However, this is just MY dog. All dogs are different. Nipping can be a huge problem without proper training. Boredom is also a big problem.
Generally chihuahuas are very nervous. Doxies often tend to be one person dogs but not quite as nervous as chihuahuas. The mix would not likely make a children's dog.
A chihuahua dachshund mix will have a very energetic, sometimes hostile personality. Both chihuahuas and dachshunds are small dogs with big personalities, so you can expect that both dogs' traits will come through in this mix. The dog will be very yappy, with lots of energy ready to be spent running around, chasing things, and jumping all over the place.
It's impossible to accurately predict the personality of a mixed breed, but they do tend to manifest the personality of one breed more than another. Your best bet is to research the temperament of chihuahuas and dachshunds and then be prepared for any combination of the two.
Both breeds are highly opinionated, stubborn and assertive in personality meaning mix of those breeds is apt to turn out the same. Nipping is a good possibility without training.

i would have to disagree with this prediction of the mix, everyone that i know that has a chiweenie says exactly the opposite, and mine got the good traits from each breed. he never nips and only barks when someone is there, sometimes he can be stubburn though. add a comment
my chiweenie required very little effort to train, he was so easy, he answered to his name almost instantly, he just fell right into the household and our way of doing things, best dog ever, and he likes kids and other animals too, even though we have no kids.

We are blessed to adopt Wabbit, a quiet, laid-back Chiweenie, today from Beagles and Buddies Rescue in El Monte, CA. Their fee is tax-deductable! Wish us luck- Wabbit has yet to meet Sweetheart, our Exotic Longhair Kitty.
I found a chiweenie (or daschuahua), Puppy D.O.G, in the street. The love of my life! Sweet, adoring, playful. Picky eater, bad digestion. He died of lymphoma 7 years ago. I just found another daschuahua, now named Biscuit, in the street. Same personality exactly! Same digestive issues. Daschuahuas are awesome!
Mabel seeks food and attention nonstop. She must be held and rubbed and if you stop she will poke you until you resume. Loves to give kisses and love to chew toys and earphones. She is hostile to strangers but harmless. Like other chiweenies she nips but to no effect
i just got a toy chinweenie i renamed her Brookie she is a year and half old weights 4 pounds ..i change her name and she took to her new right way..not that playful but loves the kitten.
Rescued a 4 week old Chi. 14 weeks now. Full of energy, hyper, still tries to bite your hands or clothes. Stubborn, hard to potty train. She's beautiful and gives kisses and those eyes say it all. I think I'm just too old for this! lol
Rescued one at 4 weeks old. She is now 14 weeks. Hyperactive, still wants to chew your hands, lick your face and still has accidents and destroys her pee pad if left alone. She's beautiful and smart, but I think I'm too old for this. lol
