I believe it's 5-10 years in the state pen! You might want to check with a police officer just to make sure.

There is none if you are a student from another state, but wish to file the tax return in their native state. The penalty for NY citizens is eventually getting convicted and possibly going to jail. Greater probability if it's large amounts of money that someone owes, example millions of dollars.
