What is the origin of Valentine's Day?

It is believed it originated from St. Valentine, a Roman who refused to give up Christianity,and was martyred for it. He died February 14, 269 A.D., and left a fairwell note signed "Your Valentine".

The Emporer of Rome declared young men had to join the army and not get married. Valentine, helped them marry anyway. Imprisoned, he performed a miracle and got a young girl's sight back. He was killed, and is thus honored for his sacrifice for others to enjoy their loves.
