The most economical is linoleum. The good thing about this product it comes in many different colors and patterns and it is easy to install. If you want to go with tile you will have to stay away from natural stone because this is the most expensive. However, you maybe able to a find a great price on ceramic tile.

If you use linoleum tiles, your floor can be done for less than $1 per square foot. Also, if you have extras they can be used as future relacements.

The cheapest floor covering for both kitchen and bathrooms is normally vinyl. You can purchase it either in rolls or individual squares. It is very easy to install.

I would recommend that you look into using ceramic or tile for your project. Stone can be alot more expensive. They are many colors and styles to choose from that will fit into a lower budget. If you have artist talent you can always make you own designs on cheap white tiles that can look awesome.
