The flag of Mexico has an Eagle eating a snake on cactus. This is from an Aztec legend that said it was the sign that showed the Aztecs where to build their capital (Present day Mexico city). I do not know the significance of the colors.

Green, white and red are the colors of the Mexican Liberation Army which successfully fought the Spanish in a war for independence after which the flag was adopted.
