The amount of watering needed for a lawn, depends on weather, and type of grass. Typically, 30 minutes, once a week is enough. Try checking into rain recyle tanks, which is a system of tanks that collect rain water which then can be used to water the lawn.

You lawn should have at least an inch of water once a week. Try buying bottled water for shrubs and bushes if you have to pay for your water.
