What is the importance of biology in understanding behavior?

Answer by  Hyperlogic (21)

Biology, memories, and stimuli determine the chemicals (our emotions) that drive neuronal firing patterns (our feelings). To the extent that biology greatly determines the reflex chemicals that flood our bodies during emotional reactions, behavior is highly dependent on biology.

The activities of and interactions among organisms in the natural world (their behavior) involve, like all complex traits, multiple genes. These can be studied in a systematic way according to the scientific method.

The role of biology in understanding behavior is still up to debate. Pretty much any act of behavior can be shown to have a biological root but not everyone who has the same biology will react the same.
