The history of the crucifix is of course based upon the crucifying of Christ in the Christian tradition, making the cross a religious symbol with power and ability to access God.
The crucifix dates back to the Roman Empire and the crucifix was used as a form of torture to anyone who disobeyed the law, it later became a religious symbol.
