Spices come from India and Asia. This spices have been harvested there for centuries. The trade routes are still used today. In Christopher Columbus day the routes where long and dangerous. These are few reason why the Spanish crown invested in him to sail and find new trading route to these to continents.

Most spices were used in the beginning to keep food fresh (especially salt) or to disguise the taste of rotting meat or vegetables in the days before refrigeration. Many spices were discovered by explorers and brought back to Europe.

Chris columbus came from the old world to look for them and instead found america .So the history of spice in america is great . there are all kinds of uses for spices today. some are even smoked for relaxing pleasures and i have to say that they work great
