Clarence Hamilton invented the Daisy BB Gun, and in 1886 he suggested a prototype of the gun to the company he worked for, Plymouth Iron Windmill Company in Michigan. The president of the company tried it, exclaiming, "Boy, that's a daisy! " The company initially gave the guns away as premiums to windmill purchasers, but then made them instead of windmills!
