The world's highest mountain is Mount Everest on the Nepali-Tibetan border in Asia. Named for Sir George Everest, it is officially 29,029 feet high, though some believe it to be higher. Mount Everest is part of the Himalayan Mountain Range. The first recorded incidence of someone climbing to the top was in 1953 by Tenzing Sherpa and Edmund Hillary.
