From what I've been able to find out, Mount Kosciuszko is the highest mountain in Australia. It's part of the Snowy Mountains and is located in New South Wales. It is 7,310 feet above sea level. There are territories of Australia that have higher mountains, but these are located on other Islands.

The highest mountain on mainland Australia is Mount Kosciuszko in New South Wales. The highest mountain in the Australian territories is Mawson Peak on Heard Island in the Southern Ocean.
