No easy to answer in short. Basically about 45K at step one to 65K at step 10, but then also adjusted based on geographical area anywhere from 14 percent to 35 percent.

According to the Federal jobs web site, the 2010 pay scale is as follows: GS-9 step 1 is $41,563. The next steps are 42,948; 44,333; 45,718; 47,103; 48,488; 49,873; 51,258; 52,643; and $54,028. Thses are base pay level and vary with geography. High living cost areas pay more, with rates ranging from 14% to 35% (San Francisco) above scale.
