You should be able to just put them in the ground after frost is past, and they will grow. Beans are not picky, and grow readily. If you want to, you can soak them for a few hours or overnight before planting them. They will sprout faster if you do this.

Beans germinate very rapidly. Cover with approximately one half inch of soil after the daytime temperature is at least 65 degrees, but less than 75 degrees. Keep soil moist, but not soggy and sprouts will appear in seven to fourteen days, with visible growth every couple of days.

Cotyledon is the lobe that's contained in the seed. The bean has a small root that starts growing. The young stem gets larger and secondary roots appear. First leaves appear on plant.

Moisture is the key. The seed coat must be softened for the bean to sprout. Use a wet paper towel or moist soil. Seeds should germinate within a week.

Beans have an excellent disease resistance and germination can be difficult if not impossible. Collect as many used Kleenex tissues as you can from flu infected people. Place in a plastic bag with a teaspoon or two of warm water. Keep in a warm dark place for at least two weeks. Place these in your bean field and listen for sneezes.
