The EPT test is the most accurate pregnancy test when testing early. It says it can tell up to 6 days before your missed period, but the closer you get to your missed period the more accurate it will become. If you wait a little longer to test, most pregnancy tests will be accurate.

Because conception can take up to two days to occur after sexual intercourse, the earliest that you can be sure a negative is really a negative is nine days after intercourse.

Look for any brand of home pregnancy test that says "early" on it. Some brands allow you to take it up to 5 days before you expect your period.

The earliest you can detect a pregnancy is between 10 and 14 days following ovulation for most women, assuming you have no used a HCG trigger to cause ovulation. With anything sooner than that there will not be enough of the pregnancy hormone in your system.
