After enabling the option in Pointer Options in the control panel under Mouse Properties, one can use the CTRL button to locate where their cursor is. This feature creates a 1 inch diameter circle around the location of the cursor. The circle then shrinks until it is just a point, located at the tip of the cursor arrow.

Depending on your OS, you may be able to configure this from Control panel. Go to My Computer->Control Panel->Mouse. Under Pointer Options, set Visibility to 'show location of pointer when I press the CTRL key', then apply. When the cursor is next lost, use the CTRL key to home in on it's position.
