What is the difference in Christian and Protestant?

Christian (at on time, Protestant) is a catch-all term for one who worships Jesus. Original Protestants are those who separated from the Catholic Church. Currently, it describes a particular religion.

It's all a part of the same thing. Christian is the religious affiliation. Protestant is the church the person goes to. Protestants are Christians. Christians ultimately believe the same base beliefs but each of the churches inside the Christian religion has different beliefs on certain subjects that tends to vary slightly from the other churches.

Christians include all people who believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Protestants are a specific group of Christian denominations. All Protestants are Christians, but Catholics, Mormons, Orthodox Christians, and so on, are not Protestants.

None-all Protestants and Catholics are Christians and believe Jesus is the Son of God. Catholics see the Pope as a direct link to God. Protestants have individual/direct relationships with Him.
