Does the concept of manifest destiny only apply to the US?

Manifest destiny has been applied to early US development, but can be seen in the development of other nations and empires. A sense of entitlement and importance can be seen in the Dutch, Roman, British, and Spanish empires. Particularly in the exploitation of Africa, the Caribbean, and South America.

Manifest Destiny is a term that comes directly from American history. Politicians created it to push their agenda for western expansion of the United States. They said that it was the "manifest destiny" of America to extend all of the way to the Pacific. Thus, the term technically only applies to American history.
