Intra-task learning comes from the matters arising within each of the tasks separately. Inter-task learning requires comparisons and contrasts between two or more tasks to gain the desired insights. Inter-task learning is more complex, requires greater long-term memory and cognitive facility.

Intra-task learning covers all aspects of one task (e.g. cash application) while inter-task learning covers several tasks that are related to complete a project or process (e.g., entering an order, pricing an order, completing an invoice).
