An ipod classic is only able to play music. The ipod video can also play music but can also view videos and pictures.

iPod classic only plays. mp3 files or iTunes music files. iPod video can play both video files and music files. Though I believe both of them are able to go on the internet, though I am not positive. Though if you want a full comparison list, just input the two iPods into a search engine and see the results.

The main difference between the two is that the older classic don't play video. Plus the video model screen is designed to be more for video watching than listening to music.
