The more probable causes are irritable bowl or biliary colic because of anatomical ubication. Other less probable causes are renal colic, diverticulitis, hydatidosis, pleurisy, a rare case of apendicitis or a gastric ulcer by referred pain. Sometimes abdominal pain causes can be serious but others are not a big deal.

It could be simple indigestion or constipation. Or it could also be a minor virus. However, if the pain is intense, it is best to talk to your doctor.

You should be under a doctor's care as any abdominal pain can be serious if it presists. The pain could be gallbladder or pancreatitis, a ruptured stomach ulcer or pelvic inflammation. It depends on the rest of your symptoms if it is an emergency but the rule is if the pain is intense, see your doctor.

Pain in the upper right abdominal at the bottom of the ribs could be caused by gallstones, which is caused by the lodging of gallstones in the gallbladder or along the passages that drain the gallbladder; the inflammation of the gallbladder, due to the infection of the gallbladder; or kidney stones.
