If it's a turbo 944 then you might be hearing the turbo which is normal. If it's not a turbo then most likely what you are hearing is from the serpentine belt. Anything with bad bearings that the serpentine belt runs will make a whining noise.

I would have a mechanic check it out. A whine could be caused by anything from a belt to the transmission. Without more information about the car I can't really narrow it down.

It is probably your fan belt. It is best to have a mechanic fix it. Sometimes you can tighten the fan belt yourself if it is just lose but you may need a new one. You'll need a screw driver and wrench and get under the car to get at it.

The whining in the car could be many things. from a power steering fluid leaking out to a fan belt whining. Some times leaving your car window open a crack will cause a whining noise. If it is constant it could be a serpentine or alternator belt.I would have it checked out my your dealer.

My car is making a humming/whining sound when the gas is pressed. The sound gets worse when the air conditioning is turned on. Whats wrong with my car?
