I think Linksys, Netgear or D-Link will do this job. But a high speed connection of 54 Mbps you will not reach.

The wireless router is independent of your laptop and will not act any differently. Therefore, any router which has wireless G capabilities will be fine for your Inspirion 1501.

Some routers that have extra features, like a web interface to set up the router. Otherwise, all wireless routers operate the same. I like Linksys routers.

There is no good answer: routers are generally compatible with most devices, so you have to find one within your price range that has the features you need. Try online review services.

the type of computer you have is pretty irrevelant to what type of router you need. almost any router will do, but if you have very high speed internet you will want to get a nicer router - an "n" instead of a "g" - to make sure that it can keep up with your internet speeds

Just purchase whatever router you want. For wireless, all you have to look out for is standards that are compatible with your wireless card. I looked up the dell inspiron notebook and found that it has 802.11b/g wireless. Just look for any wireless router compatible with B/G.
