Spark lighters are designed to light acetylene torches. They are sold at any home center or hardware store. They work by striking the flint against an abrasive of steel to create a spark, igniting the gas. They are more effective because the escaping gas from the torch nozzle will not snuff out a flame from a butane lighter or match.

The best way to light a torch is with a stryker. This is basically a piece of flint that rakes across a piece of steel to cause a spark They are typically about 8 inches in length so your hands are not close to the torch when it ignites.

Well I have seen a lot of people use those striker flint strikers. They seem to do a pretty good job and you can get them from a wide variety of places.

The best way with with a click flint lighter. This is a very safe way and it keeps your hands away from the tip of the torch so you don't get burned.
