Poison ivy is a dicot. Plants belonging to this group can be killed with most herbicides including Roundup. Just spray the leaves and it'll die in a few days.

Through a tarp over the poison ivy and put rocks on top. with no sunlight they should begin to die in a few days. it the green way to do it but if decide to use chemicals use roundup not so hard on the environment and will kill the ivy.

The only way I've found to kill poison ivy is to uproot it, and burn it. Stay upwind or you can get sick from breathing it in. Then, was immediately.
