How does poison ivy spread?

I got it on my arms and hands, but now it's all over my thighs and belly, which were covered up when I was exposed to the poison ivy. So why is the rash all over me?

It forms little blisters that when broken releases a fluid that spreads the rash to whatever part of your body it comes in contact with. Put calamine lotion on the blisters to dry them up and prevent it from spreading. And most of all do not scratch the blisters.

Poison ivy, when touched, leaves an oil on your skin. If you touched your thighs and belly before completely washing this oil off, it would be spread that way.

Poison ivy is spread by scratching it. You get the poison that started it under your nails and the skin you touch will get it.

Poison Ivy secrects a wicked oil which is absorbed into your pores. The oil can be spread simply by taking a hot shower because heat opens up the pores.
