First try using a can of compressed air to remove any dust on the lens. If you still have problems use some rubbing alcohol with a Q-tip.

The only way other than opening it op and manually cleaning the lens by man is to use one of those special eye cleaner disks. They work like a head cleaner for a vcr. It is a cd with a set of small brush that clean debris from the lens. Look in your locale store or online for one.

Well, what you need to do is get a very soft cloth. Like on that is used to clean glasses. Do not... I repeat DO NOT get a flannel cloth. It will scratch it a lot.

The lenses on equipment like DVD players are very sensitive, so it is important not to use any harsh cleaning products. A mixture of water and mild soap is best.
