An actual "allergic reaction" to a tattoo is rare; and usually you're allergic to the ink. Itching and swelling are common after effects of a tattoo. Antibiotic ointments, hydrocortisone creams, anti-itch creams and cold compresses are common ways to combat the itchy feeling. If after a week no results, contact a dermotologist who'll likely prescribe a steroid.

I would wash it with some warm water. Then take some Benadryl to make sure you don't go into anaphylactic shock. Then, contact your doctor. You may have to have it removed.

If tattoos result in a rash that does not go away, seek medical attention. Never put anything in a new tattoo--not hydrocortisone, not Neosporin, not anything. If a rash breaks out, it probably means that your tattooist did not use sterile equipment.

The person must immediately take an anti-allergic medicine which suits them. Then a doctor should be immediately consulted for a proper medicine course so that it does not happen again.
