I believe the best song ever written is "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" which was song by Judy Garland in the "Wizard of Oz". It epitomizes the beauty of words and melody. Judy sang it so beautifully and the lyrics resounded her dream as a young woman for a perfect life.

That is open to opinion and a lot of debate. What might be the best song to you, probably is no where near for me. So, no definitive answer.

It would have to be Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana. It started a whole revolution in the music world, which was sweet while it lasted.
