Ours was installed by a professional and he put it on the ceiling just beyond where the door will be when it's up.

Placement of the opener is dependent on the design of the door and the opener. Most are installed on the ceiling, centered on the garage door. Follow intructions with opener.

Place it on the wall, at the door, which you use to enter the garage. Most likely, you already have an electrical box close by as well. Which ever way you choose, keep it simple.

The best place to put a Garage Door Opener is on the inside left or right side of the door. If you are left handed, put it on the left, Right handed, put it on the right. Place it about 5 1/2 feet off the floor. This will be easy to reach by adults, but not children.

i would say right by the door leading from the house into the garage or a door leading to to the outside.

The best place to put a garage door opener is inside your car on the visor. This way it is easy to find and you do not have to get out of your car when pulling your car inside the garage.
