What is so good about blue pens?

Pens with blue ink allow a person to distinguish a copy of a handwritten document from the original. Copiers are so good now that it is virtually impossible to tell the difference between an original written in black ink and its copy. Blue ink solves this problem.

Blue pens provide an ideal third color between black printer ink and white paper. Black pen can be mistaken for or blend in with printed text. Also, blue is somewhat more friendly, since it is lighter and more colorful than black, but not too bright or informal like red or purple.

Black pens are great for legal work, so actually business men should use black, not blue. Blue does stand out though, perhaps that is why they prefer using them.

One possible reason is that you can tell the difference between an original document and a copy by the fact that computers will print in black.
