It is intended exclusively for getting drunk. Its basically fortified wine that is made to taste like a sugary soda. It is artificially colored and flavored and is stigmatized as a drink preferred by homeless drunks.

Ripple wines are very inexpensive, low-quality fortified wines with artificially high alcohol content. Often drunk just for their very low price and high alcohol level, they are reputed to have an unpleasant chemical taste.
